The Saskatchewan Roughriders are a football franchise that is based in the city of Regina in Saskatchewan, Canada. They play professionally in the Canadian Football League under the West Division. They were originally known with the name of Regina Rugby Club. The Franchise has maintained an organizational continuity that was unbroken ever since their founding many decades ago even though they weren't the first group to compete in Western Canada for playing football.

They are regarded as the 3rd oldest gridiron football franchise that plays professionally, along with Toronto Argonauts and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. They are also the oldest surviving Franchise under CFL in West Division. Their name evolved from Regina Roughriders to Regina Rugby Club from 1924 till 1946.
